Letter of support

Dearest Ari,

I am deeply sorry about the earthquake that occurred in Wellington, where you live. I’ve never experienced being in an earthquake, but I hope that your family is safe and nobody is injured.

Hope that any pet of yours is okay. Seeing all the pictures on T.V makes me feel sorry for those who live around you.

-Is your house safe? Hopefully if there are young children in your home that they are also safe and being fed.

I hope and pray that Wellington and the rest of the cities that were hit by the the earthquake recover as soon as possible, and remember that all of you are always in my prayers.

Yours sincerely
INEZ ✌

Attitude - Paula

Yesterday after lunch time we had a wonderful talk from this man called Paula from Attitude. He came to talk to us about Spiritual, Mental, Social and Physical issues. What I picked up from Paula's talk about physical issues is having a good Relationship with our food. That sounds really weird , but what Paula means by having good relationships with food is like when we are bored don't just eat cause were bored because that isn't having a good healthy relationship with food and we might get sicknesses for the rest of our lives.

Donald Trump and the US elections

WALT: Compare and Contrast the differences between peoples views.

This week my literacy group have reading an article based on the Donald Trump elections. I have learnt a lot about the elections from reading this article, and seeing what the republicans believe in and the democrats, to me its pretty sad to see what the Republicans think and believe. Only because they are willing to  help a minority of people which seems to be the wealthy. Whereas the Democrats are willing to help the majority of people. We looked at Politics this week because we are voting for our Auckland Mayor.

Our Walt this week is to identify language features of the text and sentence types such as Metaphors, Similes, Personification, Complex, Precise Verbs and so on. The story had a lot of descriptive writing in it. It's about a young boy in Samoa at the plantation. When all of a sudden heavy waves dragged him down into the rough water.

They visited all these companies in just seven days.
They enjoyed their journey to U.S.A. They also visited the Golden Gate bridge.

The Olympic Games

Olympic Games is a sport event that happens every four years. More than two hundred nations participate in the games. The games have grown so much nearly all nations around the world are being represented, by their top athletes.

The Olympics started off with just one sport. 100 meter race. Only men participated the event. No women were allowed, only single women. The first games began in 1896. The games were held in honour of  Zeus, king of the gods, and were staged every four years at Olympia. These days women are able to compete in the Olympic games. Unlike the ancient Olympic games women were not able to participate.

This year the Olympics are being held in Rio. More than eleven thousand athletes are competing against each other this year. On the fifth of August 2016 was the opening ceremony for the Olympics. A lot of countries were called out and all their athletes walked out into the stadium proudly. More than one hundred athletes are representing New Zealand.

I look forward to seeing the closing ceremony for the Olympics because I can’t wait to see how they are going to celebrate. Hopefully you’ve learnt some facts about the Olympics. Bye!

Bonded Labourers

Description of Learning ... In this text I learnt a lot of how the life of children and adults are in Bangladesh. It's very sad that some children don't get to go to school like I do. Some children start working when they are four till seventeen, and these children work dangerous jobs. Some work to make, cigarettes, matches and clothes which I think is pretty dangerous.

My First Pay Packet

WALT: make inferences within the text.

Description of Learning: It's this boy's first time he has ever received a pay packet. This boy is looking for a job so that he can receive his own money rather than his parents giving him money. He has been going around Glen Innes looking for a job. He found a job at the supermarket in G.I. When he received his pay packet he gave it to his mother to show her. His mother said that it is traditional for niueans that on their first pay day they must share their money with their family. So he did. I think he felt very happy about it.

The Lost Alisha - Narrative Writing

WALT: Identify the features and structures of a narrative writing.

Clumsy little Alisha happily spends time with her family at the Theme Park, In Melbourne Australia. Alisha is the youngest of three. She has two older brothers. Alisha is seven years of age, has blonde hair and also has a loud cry which makes her easy to find especially because she loves wandering off at every opportunity she gets.

Mum and dad met up with some friends and talked while Alisha ran after a cute little puppy.  The puppy scurried away  quickly which made it hard for Alisha to catch because she’s so clumsy. Alisha eventually threw in the towel and gave up.

Alisha started to cry so loud, so loud her parents heard her from afar. There was a Stairs that lead to a Cafe. It was high enough to see everyone in the crowd. Mum and dad made their way up the stairs, that way is was easier to find Alisha.
Mum eye caught Alisha’s blonde hair and straight away ran to her while dad followed. Alisha was found at once and finally learnt her lesson hold on to mummy’s hand no matter what.

Description of learning: This week we have been focusing on writing a narrative. I wrote a narrative about a young girl named Alisha. She got lost at the Theme Park. She started crying and then Mum and dad found her. Enjoy!

Reflection

WALT: write a reflection of what i gained in 2015 and what i am looking forward to in 2016.

Last year I think I gained a few things as a year six. I gained more confidence towards talking to people in my classroom that I don't usually talk to. Another thing I think I gained last year is a bit of confidence towards my fear of heights. One thing I look forward to this year is learning maths. Also making new friends because most of my friends last year we are not in the same classrooms.
