Why do we need to exercise?

Greetings, I will be explaining ‘Why is regular exercise important’. There will be three main points that I will focus on, in this piece of writing. Why we need to exercise, What happens if we don’t exercise, and How you can do regular exercises.

Firstly, Why do we need to exercise? It is important for everyone to exercise, because it will lower the risks of us having diseases. Also it’s unhealthy for our bodies to not get exercise. When you exercise it helps you sleep better. Exercising can also help those who struggle in life. It can also take your mind off things and make you feel better. It can sometimes be boring and tiring, but if you make it fun, you will enjoy it. When we exercise it reduces stress from our minds.

So, what happens if we don’t exercise? If you don’t exercise it can cause the immune system to weaken. It also makes it harder for our bodies to fight viruses, such as the flu and cold. You’re likely going to find yourself getting sick more often, if you do not exercise.

Finally, How can you do regular exercises? You can do your own exercises at home. There are awesome sites online that can help you exercise at home. Also if you sign up to a local gym, there are people, classes, and sessions, that can help you with your regular exercises.

In conclusion, regularly exercising can help make a difference in your life. But it’s all up to you if you want to exercise or not. I think it’s good for our bodies to get exercise. Even though I don’t really like exercising.

Term 4 - Immersion Assembly

This morning, we had a school Immersion Assembly. All five teams prepared an movie or item. I think all the teams were awesome but, my favourite items from this morning's Immersion Assembly, was Team 3 and Team 4's. Team 3 had showed a movie of all their 4 teachers using songs in real life. They basically used songs in between the sentences they were saying. Team 4's movie was teachers in a car singing. They kinda made a remake of James Corden Carpool Karaoke. It was an amazing Immersion assembly.

Statistics: Mean, Median, And Mode.

Statistics                                                           name: Inez

WALT- Identify the mean, median and mode within a collection of data

Activity One
Answer the questions in a different colour

The definition of the mean in a statistical investigation is commonly referred to as the average. It is the total of all the data divided by the amount of data shown.
For example: if we have this range of data 3,5,7,1,2,3,6,8

3+5+7+1+2+3+6+5  = 32  = 4
             8                      8

  1. Find the mean in this set of numbers
3,7,8,4,2,6,5,4,3,9  5.1
  1. Find the mean in the set of numbers
4,12,5,6,11,9,5    7.4
  1. Find the mean in this tally chart 7

  1. Find the mean in this set of numbers

  1. Find the mean in this set of numbers

  1. CHALLENGE QUESTION: Find the mean within this data, use the frequency table to help you

Activity Two
Answer the questions in a different colour

The definition of the median is the middle number within a set of numbers that have been put in order from size (biggest to smallest or smallest to biggest)
For example: 2,6,4,1,9 = 1,2,4,6,9 and the middle number is 4.
BUT say if there is more than one middle number… the median is found by taking the number midway between the middle pair of numbers:
3,6,1,4,9,2 = 1,2,3,4,6,9 → 3 + 4 = 3.5
                                             2

Find the median in these sets of numbers

  1. 10,14,17,12,19,11,16

  1. 34,42,37,31,40

  1. 101, 167,138,124,198,149  143.5

  1. 54, 58,52,57,53,60 55.5

  1. 1001, 1094, 1023, 1065, 1038, 1027, 1042

  1. Find the median within this tally chart 8

Activity Three
The mode is the most frequent number in a set of data. The number that occurs most often.
For example: In a set of numbers 3, 7, 8, 4, 2, 6, 5, 4, 3, 9 there are two modes, 3 and 4 because they appear twice in the data set.
Note- There can either be 0, 1 or 2 modes. If there are 3 or more numbers occur the same number of times, there is no mode.

Find the mode in these sets of numbers

  1. 2, 1, 5, 3, 7, 8, 5, 3 ,9
  2. 1, 5, 3, 2, 9 ,4, 1, 6, 8, 0
  3. 23, 45, 78, 12, 45, 67, 32, 46, 93, 12
  4. 101, 121, 123, 145, 167, 121, 139, 145, 176
  5. 394, 273, 219, 294, 183, 291, 273, 288, 271

Why all education should be free...

All Education should be free

Education is a very important part our lives. Getting a proper education leads to success and a happy life. All around the world some adults, teenagers, and children’s goals in life are to get an education and succeed in life. Some people aren’t able to achieve that goal, because they can’t afford an education. Although it’s some people’s goals in life it should be everyone's. Without an education there are less opportunities for you in life.

Some children stay at home from school because they can’t afford an education. Often students are lucky enough to get free educations. That is why I think all education should be free.
Not only for children but for all those who need it.

So what do you think should all education be free?

Ikan Test!

Today I did my Ikan test. Usually we have it playing on the t.v screen but this time we were able to do it on our own netbooks. As I sat there doing my test I felt very nervous but excited at the same time.
When I finished doing my test I felt quite relieved that it was over. My group got to mark our own test which was exciting. As you can see I didn't really do well, but i'm still happy that I gave it a go and tried my best.

In this presentation it has four different types of graphs. I worked on Pictograph, Strip Graph, Dot plot, and Stem and Leaf graphs. Take a look at my presentation and hope that you learn something from it :)

I really enjoyed working on this presentation. It is has questions to three different articles that we read. Which are: What now for the Rena?, The class newspaper, and the great barrier reef.

This presentation is from a writing task we did a few weeks ago. I learned from this task the differences between simple and compound sentences. I had to write fifteen simple sentences and fifteen compound sentences.

Polyfest trip.

On Thursday the 17th of March 2017, the year seven and eights of Point England School had the privilege of going to the ASB Polyfest. This was my first time going to a Polyfest. In the morning we departed from school in buses. I was put into a group of six. In my group was Olivia, Loseli, Anna, Sheena, and Ana L. Our parent that looked after us was Olivia’s father.

When we arrived there, we sat down in class lines and waited for a few college students. They were showing us around. She was our tour guide. While we awaited them we sang a few songs and played hand games. Our class tour guide then arrived. Her name was Sabrina, she was a student from Aorere College. We done a few workshops before we had gone out in our individual groups.

After we did our workshops Olivia’s dad ( Mr Vaevae ) bought us some milkshakes. We all got chocolate flavoured milkshakes except for Mr Vaevae he got a mixed berry milkshake.  After we bought our milkshakes we walked around looking for places that we didn’t have to pay any money for. We found a place that the flava radio were doing. They were doing free temporary tattoos that had there company name on it. Our groups all got ous on our right cheek. Except for Mr Vaevae because he had a beard so he couldn’t get it.

My favourite station ( i think that's what you call it ) was the ASB Digital Poi one. We got into a group of four and did swang the digital poi.

I think Polyfest is fun and cool. Although my group didn’t get to see any performances but the Diversity stage it was fun.
