2014 Reflection

This year I enjoyed learning Dictogloss. It was my first time doing Dictogloss. I’ve learnt how to type word for word what my teacher says and reads out.  Sometimes Dictogloss will be a bit hard for me, but I still try my best at it.

This year I found writing so difficult. Especially Explanations, it is really hard. To improve my writing, I think its best to learn my spelling first because its best to write when you know how to spell.

Next year my goal is to be better at Writing and always listening to the teacher.
Also to learn more things in maths, because I’m not really brainy at maths, but i enjoy it. I hope you enjoyed reading my reflection about 2014.

Auckland Art Gallery

On Friday the  21st of November the Year 5’s (and some year 4’s) of Pt England School went on a trip to the Auckland Art Gallery. We went by bus.  It was so loud in the bus. We went to see different artists paintings. I was so excited to see how artist’s had painted their painting’s.

Once we had arrived there we sat in the front of the Art Gallery and waited for them to open the doors. We all just sat in front of the building talking. Once the doors had opened five girls came out of the door. There names are Mandy, Alice, Charlotte and Linda. The first room we went in was the Studio. We done some drawing and painting. We were given a cardboard jar to cut out. When we had finished cutting out our jars we were given instructions, to think of a story that you could draw. I was really nervous that my pictures would turn out horrible. It took a while for me to think of a story to draw about. After I finished drawing my pictures I started painting. I drew  pictures of my sister, my cousin and I playing basketball.

After a wonderful time in the studio we had our morning tea. We went outside  of the art gallery and had our morning tea. I sat next to Daniella, Lotu, Kura and Loseli. After I had my morning tea i went and put my rubbish in the bin and had a little play on the stairs. I heard someone say something about groups then i just remembered that i was in Alfa’s group.

When our lovely quiet morning tea had ended I went to the Learning  Center with my group.
It was so fun. I saw this projector,  and I made a shadow of myself. It made a pink out line of my body. We spent about nineteen minutes in there. Alfa’s Dad and Mrs TePania just sat down and watched us play around. The boys in our group (Alfa, Phaezon and David) just done cartwheels in front of the projector.

It was a lovely time in the Learning Center. Then we had moved on. We went upstairs to where outside the cafe. Me Daniella, Loseli, Phaezon, David and Alfa started to play tiggy. Mrs Tepania and Alfa we’re laughing at us cause we took a while to tag each other.

I felt really happy at the Auckland Art Gallery.  It was so fun. I hope you enjoyed my story.

How to be a good Friend

How would you be a good friend? This morning i will explain to you three main ideas about Good Friends.

The first topic i will be talking for you today is’ Support’. Supporting a friend is being a great friend. If you are there to support them they will be there to support you. There might be a bully in your class that bully’s you, you still support that person, even if he/she is mean to you.

Second topic will be based on Comforting your friend. Comforting means the same as look after. For example: If you’re friend is crying you go up to him/her and comfort them. But sometimes it may not work. Sometimes  your friend might be so anxious and say to you “Get away and leave me alone”. But it doesn’t matter at least you were there.

The fourth topic i will be talking about is  ‘Be Polite’. Being polite also means to use your manners. There are four topics that can relate to be polite. First one is to say ‘Thank you’, Second you say ‘ Please’, Third say ‘Excuse me’ and last you say there names.

So remember to always Support others, Comfort others and be polite to others. It may make their day even more happier.

How to be a successful Pt England Student

Do you know any clue of being a successful Point England Student?
At Point England School we have  reminders of what students have to do, so that they reach their goals. I will give you three big main ideas about how to be a successful Pt Englander.

I will start off on the topic of ‘ Being Polite’. Being Polite means to use your manners and be kind to others. For example : You are walking , someone accidentally pushed you over, you do not have to get angry at them so much just say watch your step or thats alright i’m fine thanks.  Being Polite to others may make them more happy and feel safe.

Second of all will Be to use your W.I.T.S. WITS is an Korero at Pt England School. ‘W’ Stands for ‘Walk away’. If someone is teasing you or bullying you, you just walk away. ‘I’ stands for ‘Ignore it’.
Ignore it means to ignore people that are just being mean to you and back stabbing you. ‘T’ is for ‘Talk about it’ Talk about it its like you're in an argument and you don’t know how to solve it you will have to talk about it and tell a teacher if not just talk about it. Last Letter ‘S’. It stands for ‘Seek Help. Its really important to seek help. It can do for your work, homework something you find is difficult and you can’t do it.

The third topic is ‘Be sensible’. Be sensible means to behave yourself. Behaving yourself is something that most children cannot do. Most children misbehave when they have a Reliever.
Misbehaving may lead into something like punishments and going on Detention.

So remember to Be Polite to others, Use your W.I.T.S and Be Sensible.

Use my brain, Use my heart, I'm going to be Cybersmart

Use My brain use my heart I'm going to be cyber smart.
Have you ever heard of those words before?  At Pt England
It is a Korero to remind students to use their brain on-line and think first before they say or do something.

Use My Brain-
Using your brain is one main thing that all people should use. Especially when online you should use your brain. Using your brain will have to be not to send nasty emails to your friends, Giving positive comments not bad comments on someone else’s Blogs. For example if you give a negative comment about other peoples work on their blogs it will stay there and that’s not using your brain.

Using My heart-
Use your heart means to give your best in everything you do.  Give a go at something you are not good at and  be brave.  Also to use your heart and give 100% in everything you do.

Cyber smart-
Cyber smart means to be to use your brain with your work. For example: you get an dirty nasty mail from someone and you reply to it that is not being cyber smart.

School Cross Country 2014

On 11th September  2014 was our School Cross Country. It was held on the school field but we ran on the Pt England Reserve.I was in Mataatua (Green). There are four house colours Takitimu ( Yellow ), Tinue ( Blue ), Te Aroha ( Red) and Mataatua (Green). When Mr Jacobsen announced for the year 5 girls to walk to the start line i could feel my heart racing.

“ On your Marks, get Set, go!!!”Yelled Mr Burt. I Started running. I passed Loseli but I knew she would catch up to me.  As i went out of the School Gate I saw Ms Rapold standing there pointing for us to turn right. So I ran and I turned right and there was Mr Barks, putting his hand up to give him a high five I saw my teacher Miss Lavakula she yelled “Come on, Inez.” It was so muddy the area where my teacher was standing.
I saw Olivia’s mum standing at one cone. She was directing us to which way to go. . So as I ran to my right I saw Mrs Williamson standing there taking photos as people ran passed her, “ No photo please.” I said as i passed her.

As i ran passed Mrs V She said” Come girls keep running.” So i did carry on running. I started jogging when i passed Mr Slade. It was a really long run and it was really hot. I saw Mr Goldstone standing at one cone telling us to don’t walk but jog. As I passed him Mrs Thompson was standing at the soccer post saying” Come on you’re almost there.” I ran up to Mr Sommerville and he asked me if i was a year 5 person. I nodded my head to say yes. As I went through the School gate I started running i tried my best to not stop, and I didn't. I heard Mr Jacobsen saying “ Wow, we've got a great finish here.” I thought to myself you are a Great Commentator Mr Jacobsen.  Mrs Vaafusuaga gave me a high five and said “ You did a great job Inez.”

I think I did well in Cross Country this year. But i except myself to do more better next year.

Life Education Caravan

Have you ever heard of the Life Education Caravan? Last week Tuesday our class walked down to the Life Education Caravan for our session. Lynn was our teacher. She talked about how we can help our bodies grow.

We learned about five things that could help our bodies to grow. One of them is drinking water. Drinking a lot of water keeps your body hydrated. We have enough sleep. Having enough sleep is also important, it helps your body to grow, and it also helps you wake up early for School. The third one is oxygen. Oxygen keeps your body alive. Fitness keeps your body fit and strong. Eating meat can also help. Not only eating vegetables and fruits helps you to be strong, meat can also help.

When we went into the Life Education Caravan i felt nervous because I thought that we were going to introduce ourselves to Lynn in front of the whole class, but we didn't. I liked it in the Life Education Caravan.

During the Holidays.......

During the School Holidays i stayed home and helped my sisters and my mum clean the house. When i woke up my mum was still sleeping so then i just went and brushed my teeth. When i finished brushing my teeth i went and washed the dishes, while my two sisters Ramonadel and Raelene did the vacuuming and the washing. When we finished all of our chores we ate pancakes and watched Rush hour 1, Rush hour 2 and Rush hour 3. Then my mum woke up and went to buy some dinner for that night. Then after watching T.V it was a bit boring so i went in my room played some GTA on the PS3. But then my sister Ramonadel came and asked for a turn so then i gave her a turn. While Ramonadel was having a turn i went outside because i heard my dad’s truck. Then my dad said” Where’s Mummy?” then i said “ She is gone to buy the food” Then i came back inside and told my sisters that my dad is back from work. A few minutes later my mum was here she beeped the horn so, then i ran outside to the car and my mum said “ Take the shopping inside Please”. I took the shopping in and told Ramonadel and Raelene to come and help me take the shopping inside from the car. Then when all of the shopping was inside my mum started cooking. She was cooking mince. Then my mum said to go tell my dad to come inside and eat now, and my dad said “okay i’ll be there in a minute”. So my mum said to me “ Go and get your sisters and tel them to come eat now”. I replied “okay”. Then i went and told them then we had dinner The End

Why is eating healthy food important?

Why is eating healthy food important? Eating healthy food like Vegetables and fruits make you stronger and healthier. There are many reasons why eating healthy is important today i am going to tell you three reasons why.

One of the reasons why eating healthy is important is because you might eat a lot of junk food and then you might end up being obese or overweight. Being healthy means eating breakfast in the morning before you go to school or work. It is important that you eat at least five or more vegetables a day.

The second reason why eating healthy food is important is because it helps your body move faster and not to be lazy, and it also helps with your learning. Also it is important for you to at least take one or two fruits for your lunch.

Well and the last reason  why eating healthy is important is because if you don't eat healthy food you could end up having Diabetes, heart disease and other sickness, and also giving little children healthy food could help their attitude  and behaviour become  good.

Reflection about Fiafia

When I arrived last night it felt like it was just a practise but only a lot of people.
I was feeling really nervous and my sister to her face was getting red. I think my group was alright but some of our customs fell off but i really enjoyed myself. I think i performed not really well because i kept on holding my lava lava and i felt it was loose but lucky we were almost finished, but i don't know if i done good, aright or bad.

My favourite performances were the Senior Hip hop, Middle Hip hop, Niue-an group. I like the senior Hip pop group because it was really interesting to watch . I also liked the Niue-an group dance it was really enjoyable and it was an beautiful item. The Middle Hip pop group was really Fun to watch.

I feel really grateful for the teachers and the tutors for teaching us the dances and songs. I am hoping next time the Samoan group will kill that stage!!!

Its important to swim

Introduction:
Do you know how to swim? Learning how to swim is important.New Zealand has one of the worst drowning rates in the world. So learning how to swim is really important so you can survive in the water. There are many reasons why swimming is important, today i’m going to tell you three reasons why.

Paragraph Two:
One of the reasons learning how to swim is important, because if you don't know how to swim how are you going to survive in water. Twenty five  percent people like 0-10 kids do not know how to swim.

Paragraph Three:

New Zealand is a small country that is surrounded by water.  During Summer it s hot and lots of families love to go to the Beach, Pools but some of them don’t know how to swim. So swimming is really important.

Conclusion:

Learning how to swim is important. If you don’t know how to swim then its better if you take swimming lessons. All you need to do is sign up for it then you will be a great swimmer.
